How boho braids are built
The base is a braid — usually knotless, occasionally a box braid if you want a crisper part. As the braid travels down, curly hair is fed in at intervals and left out rather than braided through.
Placement is the craft. Curls concentrated near the face give the soft framing most clients are actually asking for; curls distributed evenly down the length give the fuller, beachier look. We will ask which one you mean before starting, because they are very different finishes.
The curly pieces are human hair or a high-quality curly fibre. Human hair holds its pattern through more washes and can be curled back into shape with warm water; fibre is more affordable and comes pre-curled but is less forgiving once it loosens.
Boho knotless vs boho locs
Boho knotless braids use a braided base with curls left out — light, flexible, six to eight weeks of wear, and easy to tie up.
Boho or butterfly locs use a wrapped base instead, with intentional loops along the length. Heavier, chunkier, and a different silhouette entirely. If you want volume rather than movement, ask about locs at booking.
Most clients who arrive asking for 'boho braids' after seeing them on TikTok mean boho knotless. If you bring a reference photo we will tell you exactly which technique it is before you commit to the price.
Pricing and what drives it
Boho braids start at $170 and run to about $270. Three things move that number: braid size, length, and how much curly hair is left out. A waist-length set with heavy face-framing takes both more hair and more hours than a shoulder-length set with light framing.
Curly hair is priced as an add-on when we supply it. If you have already bought your own curly bundles, bring them — we will work with what you have and tell you honestly if there is enough.
Keeping the curls looking new
The loose pieces are what age first. Sleep in a satin bonnet, and re-dip the curls in warm water with a little conditioner when they start to loosen — most curl patterns snap back.
Do not brush them. A wide-tooth comb through the curly sections only, gently, if they tangle. Brushing strips the pattern out permanently.
Six to eight weeks of wear is realistic. The braided base will outlast the curls; if the curls go flat at week five and the base is still clean, ask us about swapping the loose pieces rather than reinstalling the whole set.
